Hi Ali,
I'm curious about the spring leaf.....were you able to source a new replacement or was it a used unit.

I have a feeling that 17A will get fixed but at a lot of effort and expense.

OM ,
The leaf spring is the bottom leaf and it is used. The leaf is 75 in long and about 2 in thick probably weighs about 250 lbs. Since I bought these tractor I was able to find several sources and as I mentioned before Mr Johnny Morrisson Passed on to me several used part and I also acquired from other sources. I will post pictures later

Yes it does cost alot of money but OM I have been fortunate to find good people and great after market support. For instance as you know Regal provide excellent part at reasonable prices.

My formula iif you buy a tractor for 3000 you need to spend about 3000 in repair to insure good reliability

I tend to agree with your formula:) :) ......along with two hours maintenance work for every hour of use (at least) on some of this old iron.

OM ,

Today more progress , The fender off, the Fuel tank off , both were hanging on by a broken bolt. all other bolts were gone. had to drill and tap the fuel tank bolts, the steering clutch housing bolts holes. The support bracket for the fuel tank is broken. alot of drilling and taping, very simple stuff
tomorrow We have bunch of welding to do.
The fender will support bracket cut out of 3/8 thick steel .
The welded roller were the wrong roller since they did not fit the holes pattern , when we cut them off you can see the bolts hole are just fine. new roller are on the way. The clutch dip stick tube is leaking another piece to e welded. Making a lot of progress :)

Also check the frame/trans. case for cracks under the right steering clutch cover at the front of the case, these tend to crack in this area.

Hi Ali,
That is really good news on the rollers. Would have been a considerable job otherwise. Won't take you long to work off that Turkey feed at that rate:) :)

Rome you are right about the crack ,it has a crack under the right steerign clutch cover , why do they crack ? Some tried to weld it. I think I can do little better job.
Here are the latest pictures of the fuel tank , Rollers frams and leaf spring and channel upgraded
OM look at the spring bottom leaf and the channel upgrade, everything else is drilling and welding:)

Hi Ali,
Thanks for the pictures.
Nice job on the spring saddle repairs:)
Cracks in that area are usually caused by the stresses applied to the pinion when the dead axle outboard bearings are not kept tight. Tends to cock the bull gear, stress the pinion bearings with the resulting loads being transferred to the case.

No reason a good repair can't be done.
Just add it to the list:) :)
