Can anyone tell me if the air cleaner on a D4D 78A was used on any thing else? The ones in salvage yards must be GOLD PLATED as they want $250:( for just the body no lid our precleaner. The cat part number is 9M3598 is this the same one used on a 7U? I see it 's the same as my 922B wheel loader. If anyone knows where one is that I don't have to take out a bank loan for a piece of stamped sheet metal please let me know. Thanks David

I don't know what the interchange is but you might be able to identify other applications by looking up the element part numbers and see what other applications apply.
Most of the air cleaners were made by Donaldson Corp. so you might have some luck shopping by dimensions.
The 7U did not come with a dry type air cleaner although there were plenty of after market units installed.

Looks like that air cleaner, is part of air cleaner assy, 9m1828, also used on 59a and 63a 922's, 68e and 91g 112 graders.

Thanks Old Magnet and Josh I drove up to Pasco WA to Perkins Slavage yard this afternoon found lots of 11 inch air cleaners but now 10 inch ones . He looked on his micro fish and said 9M3598 only fit D4D 78A and 922B 59A both of which I own . The 922 is out at a hay stake to load big bales I'll need to go out and look at it but I think it's the same. PS Has anyone been to Perkins salvage yard lots of old stuff I,ll take the camera next time if anyones interested nice cat 15 that runs don't know how much?

Hi daverd4,
Never have been to Perkins but did buy a few parts from them. Very accommodating. I got the lead off the BB some time ago, may even have been from you:)
