TractorDon,

What series is your D4?

Looking at the back of your workshop, you appear to have a nice collection of cat's. Have you owned the D4 for very long?

Home Depot, SLO and Atascadero do not carry Rust-Oleum farm and equipment paint. I have been purchasing rattle cans of Old Cat Yellow at Cuesta Equipment(SLO). I would also expect Orchard Supply and Miner’s to have it, but I have not looked.

Hamilton Coatings (Formerly San Luis Paints) does not have it either.

WWGRAINGERS had Rust-oleum paints in their '04-'05 catalog.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

GOTSLOCO, CCJERSEY,

Here is the link to Rustoleum's website.

www.rustoleum.com/product.asp?frm_product_id=36&SBL=1

You might want to print that webpage out and take it with you if they try to tell you that you are full of hot air. The Old Caterpillar Yellow is one of Rustoleum's "Specialty" paints. And then it is in the "Farm and Equipment" section.

You will have to go to the special order desk. They will call Rustoleum and get the current pricing and the SKU number. It is nice paint.

7449402 is the Rustoleum number for gallons. Home Depot SKU # is 268-038 You have to order in multiples of 2.
7449502 is for quarts. You have to order in multiples of 2.
7449830 is for the spray can. You have to order in multiples of 6. I can't find the SKU for this one. I need a secretary..:)

Let me know if I can be of more help.

If you get fed up with dealing with the "dummies" at Home Cheapo you can purchase from stock at www1.mscdirect.com/cgi/nnsrhm . As I recall it was a little more than $25/gallon.....$45?????

Thanks, OM.

MSC's number is 62247937 (spray cans)
00241125 (gallons)

Hope this helps. But, I would still try Home Depot. You just have to have your homework done and in hand when you go in there. And the best thing is that they do not charge for shipping..... One of the only places that I can think of off the top of mey head. And do not ask me about ordering Office Depot and Office Max, a whole nother story.

John,
Have you tried spraying the gallon size? I see it stated as brush on. Wondering if it can be reduced for a spray gun.

SpragueM,

Yep, no problem. I just sprayed some last weekend on some extra parts. I use a vicosity cup that we got from Sears umpteen years ago. I usually do about 25 seconds and it will spray fine.
