Restoring Mag Keyed Switch

This is a Bosch Mag switch from my Best 30. The pictures show all the parts to the switch and the switch is ready to put back together. The switch was frozen with no spring action and filled with rust. I soaked it in WD 40 for over a month. Periodically I took it out of the solution and tapped on it. No Luck! I was avoiding trying to take it apart because in the past I destroyed a couple of Eisemann Key type switches trying to get them apart. My new theory on how to get the switch apart worked. Then I had to get the inner mechanism apart. After four hours I had the switch completely apart and ready for cleaning. Next time I think I can do this within an hour. Frank

Frank,

If you have more of the Eisemann keyed switchs to rebuild let me know, I have had fairly descent success with those in past even when they are frozen.

So how do you take apart the eisemann type that go on the 22's? I have 2 that are frozen and I think I sort of hurt one of them. I tried soaking them in ATF for about a year. Frank, I need to make a trip up there to see you and Wally one of these days. Especially since work is slow and it is raining.

Karl,
Come on up anytime. Bring the switches and we'll take them apart and try to repair them. The switches are a canned unit not made to be repaired. But, once you figure out how to get in they are quite easy to repair. Frank
