KoO It has turned very cold here in Pa. since having a very mild warm winter up till just lately.Yesterday it was "O"F out when I got up & "3"F this morning & only about 15F all day but our western states have been getting temps way below "O"F & record snow storms. It looks like no break for at least another week here with the cold spell & the snow has been scarce this year as we have only had about 7" all toll & then just an inch or two at a time & the ground is just white now with only about an inch.

Hi KoO, SJ,
Worked outside in short sleeve shirt weather here today, making a new dash panel for the D6. The cold snap did raise hell with some of the citrus and artichoke crops but most everything is dormant this time of year anyway. Of bigger concern is the fact that we have had very little rain and folks are getting worried we are heading for a drought year or a flood year if we get the normal rainfall in the remaining season. It's part of our four seasons, fire, flood, earthquake and drought. LOL. Along with the ecoli scare this year is off to a hell of a start.

Well I for one have been enjoying the winter blast finally with some accumulation (6") of nice powder snow. I have been having a ball with the new toy JD2520 with hyd plow in the immediate neighbourhood.
But it has been unseasonably cold hitting zero for a few nites in a row.

About a foot of snow is still on the ground here in northwest Kansas. Since Dec 29, we have received some 42" of the white stuff. Some of it melted the past two days, however, the next 7 days are to all be below freezing for the daily high. I don't have the exact figures for the temperage averages but we are approximately 24 degrees below normal for the year to date.

Jim,
Did all the electric power get put back on up there yet? All the poles replaced? Our 50 deg. on Tue. really made the last on our snow disapear. We're back in the deep freeze here now again. catskinner

Marv, I would estimate that 90 plus percent have been replaced with some poles still missing crossarms and in a few instances there is a missing pole here and there. We have quite a few old stripper oil wells around here and a lot of them are still shut down because the poles to the well are still down.
I've got a running battle with our county guys as they have been out twice in the past two weeks to pull out a tanker that has been stuck on our gravel road taking oil from the wells. The maintainers can take time to pull out the stupid tanker driver but they are not taking time to at least knock the ruts down in the road when it freezes. The roads are the absolute pits.
