Here are a couple of pics of my D2.

I was curious if any one had any info on the blade. My dad is under the impression that it was a cut down D4 blade.

Also can anyone tell what year the D2 is ser. 3J302.

Hi Radcam, That's a great looking early D2 made in 1938, the first year of production. I can't help you with info on the blade though.

photo of the backside of the blade? Curious to see the construction of its backside and mounts to the C-frame.
Thanks!

That sure is a working little tractor. Note the curtain of the style used by loggers on larger machines. What is that bumper all about? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the photos!!! GWH

The Blade is way different than mine 1949 Model. Also my hydraulic pump comes off the front of the engine where is yours at? I hope to get mine running sometime this year. $$$$ permitting. I am a high school teacher so money for projects doesn't come fast unless you consider my daughter in college a project.

I can,t tell what it is either for sure I don,t think it,s a LaPlant Choate but it could be made up from a couple different blades by the looks.

Thanks for the replies.

gauntjoh thanks for the info. I knew it had to be one of the early ones because of the low serial number, but didn't realize it was from the first year.

The bumper is more of a guard for the hyraulic pump, which is under the upside down cooking pan. The cable suspension on the rad support is actually holding the bumper up. Needles to say that has to go. I plan on cleaning that whole mess up.

GWH funny you should reference logging. There was a time when the logging industry was king around here, so it is possible that it was used by one of the logging outfits. As a matter of fact there is a hydraulic winch that was mounted in the back. The mount is broken so it is not mounted up in those pics. There is also a skid plate that runs from the bumper to the transmission.

drujinin I'll get a couple of pics of the backside of the blade and post them a little later.

The belly pan was pretty much standard equip. on dozers that I ever saw at the dealer shop where I worked. They were to protect the oil pan etc.

There were not many factory made dozer blades offered for the D2 until the U series came out in 1947. The one on your tractor is probably "shop built". It looks to be made up from parts from other dozers. It looks to be well made, improve it where you can and enjoy.
