Found this site looking for some help for my d7 17A. It is currently stuck in forward and first Gear. Trying to clear some brush on a fenceline. Any help would be great.

Most likely a problem with the lock out system...If the other gears were working ok you probably have a stuck interlock plunger. 1st and fwd/rev. are on the bottom counter shaft and 1st is the bottom shift rail. You can check the plunger by pulling the small cover and plate and try prying the shift rails and forks back to the proper position. If it doesn't respond you will have to pull the large cover/assembly and sort out what's wrong.

Try looking at the clevis pin on the lock asbly on the clutch lever, The pin often falls out and you either get locked in gear or outta gear look under the deck below the main gearshift lever will be little rod that goes to cluch lever end to a little arm with a pin. its easiest to check first and habit of coming out.

If it's been a gradual change as you describe.....may be nothing more than an adjustment of the interlock cam required.
