when i got the call that my dad was in the hospital with heart problems. i tossed some scrap metal in the back of the 86 dodge known as "fred's truck" because it had rained then 4" of snow, i needed traction. well a month later i cashed the scrap in and wasin for a shock. 1730 lbs of heavy cat scrap got me $8.70 to take home. that was not even enough for a 6 pack of beer to help me recover from the shock.
now i know why i'm changing my career to becoming a full time Published Author. the pay is better plus you are dealing with happy people too.

What has happened? I have not sold any in a while, but the last time I was getting almost 200 a ton for cars and maybe 20 less for appliances.

yes it is good noews for the old cats, now we can afford the prices because a collect will be paying more then scrap price not like the last year where the scrap guy had more money.

George, I got my first cat, a D42T, at age 72. I retired from IBM at age 58. I am now on my 6th CAT restoration and am enjoying every bit of it. Well, most of it any way. The old CATS can deal some challanging problems. So it looks like to me you have at least 11 years to find your challenge and who wants to grow up anyway? Collecting "old gals" at my age is a fun way to pass the time. The pictures from Zimmerman were great! Thanks!

Just got a Twenty out of the salvage yard yesterday, they charge plenty going out! Guess they need to make a living also.

just got back from a couple of days cuddling on the couch with my girlfriend. it makes a fellow feel young again since i'm 1200 kms away from my cats right now. i can't wait to get back to the KINGDOM and taken my cats out in the snow since they have waited all summer to run free, LOL
