Hello all,

new member with a D2 3J302, dozer. My dad bought this sometime around 1980 and used it on his property up until a few years ago. He wanted to get rid of it so he said it I would come and get it I could have it. So I went and got it.:D

I have a couple of questions, but first let me fill you in as best I can. I always check the oil before starting and had run the D2 several weeks ago for an hour or so. Last week I go out to start up and the diesel engines crankcase had filled with fuel, so my first thought was a leaky injector, then I read on here that it could be transfer pump as well.

My first question; Is it just the ferrel and o-ring that could be leaking, or is there an internal seal in the transfer pump leaking? Last question; is there any thing else that I should look at besides the injectors, and transfer pump?

TIA
Cam

Hello Radcam......and welcome.
Not likely it is either one of those causes. If the transfer pump seals are leaking you will have fuel leaking from the drain line that drains the cavity between the transfer pump seals.

The most likely cause is a dried out seal between the fuel filter tower and the injection pump housing which will allow fuel to leak back into the sump.

In the picture it is the seal shown in the upper RH corner.
Part number is 6B4967
There is another same seal at the opposite end of the injection pump housing that should be replaced at the same time.

Also to add to OM,s good advice is turn the fuel line off under the tank before you start the repair and also don,t worry about getting the inj. housing out of time as it has an off set tang on the drives so can only go together one way, the right way.
