The letters "SPC-G" stamped on the rear housing, in addition to "SP" after the S/N, on the S/N tag (known as a suffix) .. were first used in Feb 1941, on the "new" 7M series D7, to identify that an optional transmission was fitted.

In Dec 1945, the suffix "SP", which had previously been used up to that date, to identify that a wide range of optional accessories and drivetrain options, had been fitted in the factory .. was dropped, for that general use .. and from that date .. the "SP" or "SP-G" suffix indicated only, that an optional transmission, or optional final drive ratio, had been factory-fitted.

The "W" suffix (to indicate wide gauge) was dropped in Dec 1945, for all tractors, except for the D4. The D4 continued to use the "W" suffix until the new 6U (narrow gauge) and 7U (wide gauge) D4's appeared in 1947.
