Trying to reattach the line from the fuel system to the fuel gauge & can't figure out why there would be a check valve in-line right where the line hooks into the fuel system. And the check valve is installed so that the gauge can't possibly see any pressure. ?????????? Please help!

They don,t have a check valve there so don,t know why one is there if it,s just a mechanical gauge. Just remove or by pass it and go from there.

The Industrial engines are plumed a little different. The fuel pressure gage should come directly off the fuel filter housing, not the fuel line. The check valve you may be looking at is either the transfer pump relief valve which is mounted high on the filter housing with a line going either back to the fuel tank or to the transfer pump suction or sometimes a check valve is used to prevent flow back to the tank.

I'm just wondering if there may have been a tee in the port where that check valve - releif valve was located. Perhaps thge last time somone had that off they lost the tee or something. So if I did instal a tee it would come out of the fuel system to the tee with the relief valve on the side & the line to the fuel gauge staight off of the run.

There should be a fitting (plug) there in the filter base to tap into and I don,t have a D2 book but a D4 shows a plate on the side of the filter base where it taps in on them but I can,t remember if the D2 has that plate but I believe it does. That will give you direct pressure then.

Does somone have a picture of what the fuel line is supposed to look like from the fuel filter to the fuel gauge?

It,s nothing but just regular 1/4" tubing so is no big deal to make up one with fittings to suit. If you don,t go to Cat then an auto supply parts store would have all you need so go GIT-ER-DONE.
