Who is an ACMOC member living up Coal Creek Canyon from Denver. I hope these photos of him and his D2 turned out good.

s/n5U3214 = 1949. Came out of Nebraska, I think. Not a Cat blade but nice. Undercarriage pretty good. Smokes, may need some engine work. And definitely not for sale. Thanks Steve for entertaining an old Cat collector! GWH

Thank you OM. I thought it was a well-built blade. The edges are sharp and nice, doesn't look as if it has been worked much. With the smoke and blow=by, Steve thinks it needs a ring job. He is mechanically inclined, does a lot of machine work himself (his dad was a machinist). Has a really nice pole barn workshop with lots of equipment and tools. Even has radiant heat through the concrete floor. Talk about style! I should have photographed that too!
I wondered, though, if it wouldn't be worth the effort to put the engine under sustained load first to see if maybe that would help with the smoking problem.
Today (Wednesday), I am leaving for Orchard, Iowa, to do that exact same thing with several of my tractors. We have a window of opportunity here with soil and weather conditions. I will plow a portion of a field to get the engines under sustained load, to see if we can seat the rings on some engines that have been rebuilt. If I can persuade some folks to take photos of me doing the dirty work, I'll post them. It is a 12-hour drive from Denver. Ouch! I'll try to make it in one day to save time.
