My budy and I got the cat 20 running by pull starting it. Thanks to the help from this board is why it runs. I never would have thought that pull starting it would really be the trick. The tractor ran hot at first but that was because I didnt fill the radiator completely full. So I went over to the water trailer and filled it to the top and it ran cooler after that. The carb is still not working right so the tractor runs full throtle. When first starting it the exhaust was blowing what I think was rust chuncks and hitting me in the face. I only ran it for a little while and parked it again. Should I only run it for short bursts of time or grease and oil it up real good and run it for a long period of time?
Is 20 psi of oil pressure ok? My oil is a little too full so I am curious if that may cut down on the oil pressure.

Sorry, the tractor used to pull start was a POS JCB backhoe. I didnt have any other tractor there at the time that would have been safer to use.

From limited experience with these CAT's, even had you not shown the CAT underneath you, seeing the grin only I could have recognized the unmistakable grin of resurrected vintage CAT:)
Good for you.

hello equipdriver ,good to see the 20 running ,20psi is good oil pressure ,you will get small bits of rust/carbon from the exhaust for awhile until it cleans up ,is it the carbie or the linkages not hooked up ? ,give a good grease up and have fun ,bruce oz

Karl,
It's an undescribable feeling to bring one of these old machines back to life. You're really hooked now. On the carb. running full throttle, check out the governor. I would get the throttle situation fixed first. Then change all the fluids and go to it. Good Luck, Frank

Frank, I was wrong in saying it is full throtle. It is full fuel because something is not working right in the carb. The float seams to work and I patched that crack with JB weld but there is still fuel running out the bottom screen. When the eingine is running there is no fule running out the screen.
