Hi all, New Member here, This may have been covered already and if so, I apologize. I haven't been through all the info that is here. (There is a LOT!) I just bought an Old D7E Ser. 75E 1331. I know.. Military #'s. 48A.... with a Hyster D7H Power Control winch Series A85 ( again Military ) It has a band brake spring loaded on with hyd. cyl. to release. Does anyone know if that brake is suppose to be dry or run in oil? There were loose covers and bolts missing so I have drained about 6 gals of water and 3 or 4 gals of oil out of the three plugs. I got it inside 5 days ago with a little heat and the ice finally all melted out. Cold here in Northern Maine. Eng. will only run about 30-50 seconds and loads down a quits with lots of black smoke. Right side clutch drum in winch looks like it has been hot, probably run without proper lubrication. Seems to turn OK when cold. Want to try fresh oil and hope it will at least let the dozer run. If the winch also works right, that would be nice. I have the winch pump off to stop putting any pressure on the clutches until I can figure out what's going on. Any thoughts? TGillotti
