D6 8U Steering Clutch Hydraulic Pump - Removal from steering housing assembly

More

I've got the hydraulic steering clutch assembly removed from my D6 8U to clean and reseal it. Before I pry and risk causing damage when removing the hydraulic steering pump assembly from the underside of the upper steering assembly, I wanted to check and see if there are any steps need to complete in case a few components prevent the actual pump from dropping off after removing the 8 bolts. The parts manual looks like it should remove after taking out the 8 bolts. The gasket and ferrule (dowel) may just be binding up since it hasn't been taken apart in a long time. Any tips/tricks to get it removed.

Thanks

I am not remembering any tricks with removing pump from the rest of the unit.....................but it has been 20 years.

The one trick I do remember is the front seal were the steering lever pushes. The seal is in an aluminum insert. Cat has tool to pull the insert. But a piece of 3/8 all thread (??) and flat washers will get the job done.

Cat service manuals can leave out some parts they assume you know out, but still help a lot if you have one.

Thank you again OM for fixing my mistake. I know I put the old seal holders in a box, so I could know I had the right all thread if I ever do it again.
