Hello ACMOC friends!
In an upcoming issue of the magazine, we will be doing a story on the history of the Cat RD4 -- and we would love to feature your machines! If you have a Cat RD4 and would like to see it in the magazine, please post your pictures here along with any pertinent information (year/model no./etc.). If you have any questions, send me a message!

Why do some of these RD4s have single upper roller? I thought that they changed to single after they started calling them D4. I realize that the history of the timing from RD4 to D4 is a bit foggy, but I thought the double uppers were only on the RDs? There is a lot that I DONT KNOW, so maybe someone can straighten me out. Grant.

We have several early 4G D4s with the double carriers. It wasn't until the last year in 1939 that they switched to a single carrier. I'm also finding it was a popular swap to a single carrier in the middle. The double carriers were actually prone to additional wear in my experience.

I don’t want to be left out! Great idea. Here is the only RD4 I own, amongst a small fleet of 6U,7U, C,D and E series D4s. It was an auction purchase and really was owned by a little old lady(honest!).
Super clean orchard version. JuiceMan.

Here is my 1937 wide gauge RD4 from Saskatchewan, Canada. S/N 4G3883W someone gave it a paint job before I got it but runs and pushes perfectly fine! (Other than an oil leak on the back of the engine that I need to fix)

This is my 1937 RD-4 4G3317W she has 20" track pads and a Letourneau blade. I purchased at an auction with no info but it looks to be an older restoration on a machine with almost no wear showing. The pre-,cleaner is missing and the left and right floor plates but I have a parts machine to rob from for those. A seat would be nice.

Looks like add on ice cleats too. Nice. I think I have an extra seat cushion here. JM
