1922 Holt tractor auction find

Had my first auction purchase last week. Early 1922 Holt t35 which is very much untouched. It is a little modified, but nothing un-reversible. It has a cat radiator, but I have the correct one for it. It has the first rendition, side mount air cleaner, with all the intake tubes (of which I haven’t seen another set of originals other than these). I was blown away with how original it was with the carb and what I suspect to be 2 original plugs. My face still hurts from grinning. It needs some work, but but any good machine is a labor of love and swearing. This one is the kind ya don’t ever sell!

Awesome find! I hope you can get it running for the June parade in Vista next year.

It was almost running this last weekend. It was coughing on starting fluid

Oilcan47, there’s very little rust. A lot of two tone old yellow and gray primer though. The biggest drawback was someone cut the gas tank and put a smaller one in it, but that’s a simple patch job with some sheet metal.

It looked like a great tractor in the auction pictures. I was very tempted to bid on it but did not want to make the trip to California at this time. Congratulations on the purchase.

Well I thank you for not bidding lol. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I know that I’ll probably never run across this kind of tractor in this condition again. And I can’t compete with the big names who can write a huge check and not blink. Or get tractors helicoptered out of the mountains. For a small time collector, I’m very fortunate to have come across it.

That is a great find. I managed to get a 1925-26 TWO TON from the Fjarli sale via Aumann Auctions a couple months ago. I want to get it operational by my mothers 100 year birthday which is also Caterpillars anniversary.
I think I am only needing a good air cleaner body; I have sourced a good magneto from my wrench man. Might even have it painted; can't remember what the proper color is. JM
