I have begun restoring my No. 33 hand control pull grader, and I have an original parts book for the grader. My first task was to remove the blade table and disassemble the gear box. I noticed that there were no seals or gaskets in the gear box. The parts book doesn't make any reference to any seals or gaskets either. It is my understanding that these gear boxes hold some form of lubricant; there are plugs in the gear boxes where oil can be added.

What lubricant should be used in the gear boxes?
How are the gear boxes sealed?

The opp book says use transmission fluid in some and simi-fluid lub in others, Im guessing the sim-fluid is what we use for the rollers because it talks about useing the volume pump.
