I want to move the D6 under the cover of the new building to be able to pull the pony engine to try to bring it back to life.
I found a new carburetor about 6 or 7 years ago that I paid up for that is now on the pony.
I have some really great photos if i knew how to load them. Give me some instructions and I'll get them loaded.
I am in Evansville, Indiana. We are in the southeast corner of Indiana. The dozer came from Burnt Prairie, Illinois.
It was originally bought by my wife's grandfather new. I have a picture of him at the Caterpillar plant with the President of Caterpillar.
He had an excavation business in Fairfield, Illinois. The Cat means a lot to me since it has the family connection.
I want to completely restore it and pass it down.

At the end of the season our humble association started to shed our heavy equipment for the winter. A bladeless old 2U(?) series D8 had some debris in the coolant so the owner didn't want to start it. We took a medium-sized Dresser and hooked them back to back with a heavy cable. He started to pull me on a slight downward grade while I worked the steering clutches and braked for both of us. No problemo. BTW: Congrats on the 9U: I'm still looking for one but so far all the ones I've seen are "projects".

we dragged our d4 about a kilometer and down a hill no problem. we snug it with another tractor
just put the trans in neutral and it will roll happily provided the tracks arent stuck. the turning brakes and clutches will still work as they are mechanical. we used a chain to hold the blade up our also has a scrub canopy so we had a ready spot to chain to.

use a stout wire cable sling or winch extension strap to link them

has the pilot engine got good spark? plug wires can be a problem and it needs proper copper sparkplug wire and ends. and dont make my mistake and have the leads in the wrong positions.

also the kill switch can be a issue.try with it disconnected from the mag.

magnetos need a good return path via the mag body and the engine casting, clean the mating faces to smooth bright metal, wipe over with a rag damp with methylated spirit or contact cleaner to remove any oil/grease residue then rub the faces with a 2b pencil the graphite will help it contact better. while the mag is off check the points and rotor button for damage clean em up and reinstall.

also clean the mating surface and threads for the spark plugs and new plugs its a simple fix and rules out a bad plug.

if it still has bad spark the its probably a bad condenser and a new one will fix it.
