Well, things are back together. It was nice to hear the starting engine AND the main run after 18 months of deafening silence.
Bittersweet...I forgot to open the main fuel line at the tank and ran the main out of fuel...
My question is on the main clutch. Reading other posts I believe my adjustment is too tight. Should the cams on the main clutch lay 100% on the disc? I do not think where mine are now that they do when the lever is pulled back all the way. I do not have an over center snap, so something needs to be adjusted. At first I thought it needed to be tightened, but I am not convinced.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts-

I'm not shure about the cam position, but it sounds like your clutch is to tight. I always set twin disc/rockford clutches where you could engage them by using your wrist.

Bernie,
If you have to hold the clutch in, it's too tight. Start backing the adjusting ring off 'til you have a "snap" as it breaks over and stays. Chances are you'll have to tighten it up again after it's run a while.
Congrats on getting it all back together again. You do realize some pics are now a "must"

Thanks-I thought it was probably too tight. On a post you had several months ago Ol'Grump you made note of having to back off the adjustment on the ring.
I am replacing the fuel tank valve and have to bleed the system. My son and I just did it the other day in preparation of starting it up. Oh well...the fernco end cap works really well. Does not take long to bleed them and I do not have to turn over the main. I have used it a couple times and it seems to push the air through pretty good.
Once it is fully operational and some time under its belt, I plan on changing the fuel filters...
