Hi my name is Steve McPherson from Pokeno, New Zealand and I am flying to New York with a mate on Sunday 28 July for a week. We will be driving down to the Dundalk port in Baltimore to do some work on a D10 84W that I purchased and am trying to get back to NZ.Hopefully we will have a few spare days to have a look around Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York state.Back here we have a small collection of small Cat tractors and some D8s etc and would be great to meet some members and have a look at some classic Cat machinery over there. So if anyone can help or point us in the right direction, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Neil: Here is a chance to visit with one of your countrymen AND possibly leer at a D-10 in person!
It is a shame that you are not going to be on the west coast, as there is an estate sale with several D-10s out here in N. California this weekend.
Welcome to the club by the way! JM

I was going to say, picking up a D10 from NY vs. CA seems like a heck of a lot of extra shipping so it must be a good one : )
Steve, I'm in Western NY if you manage to get over this way. We have one member that used to have a museum (sold up now) but he stil has a boneyard full of interesting pieces. Let me know what your travel plans are. Formerly from Masterton where I'm looking after a Twenty-Two for my cousin. I'm interested in the serial numbers of your antiques - if you get a chance to list them, one of the members has a page that lists the owners by model / serial number and what the machine has (e.g. 2S blade, PTO, electric start, etc.) -

I'm particularly interested in seeing if my grandfather's D2 5U14xxx is still extant.
Cheers,
Neil

A week later than you'll be staying unless you can stay longer, we have our show August 9-11 Brownsville PA . Not that far from Maryland
This is the shovel capitol of the world. Haven't done a recent count; but there's at least 40 cable machines there as well as several old CATS

Hi Neil, the shipping was very reasonable out of Baltimore and the machine seems relatively low hour and straight with good track gear. We just have some oil leaks to sort out.
We will keep in touch, there is every chance we may get up to Pittsford depending on our progress and the final inspection. And i will look into the serial numbers.
Hi Juiceman, where would I find the listing for this estate sale with these D10s? Cheers
And side seat, we are hoping we wont still be there that weekend but if we are it will certainly be looked into.
Thanks
Steve

Enjoy your stay in the states Iggy. We hope you find more treasures along the way.
Skinner: Thank you for the link. As many ripping units out there, it is still good when someone such as yourself has their own. Hard to rely on some of the for hire guys, just like trucking! Please share what you buy from there. I want to think that Price was one of the first folks to operate D-10s in California. JM

Juiceman: We would love to find more treasures but trying to get the 84W out has been a mission. We bought it a year ago and it kept getting accepted and then rejected at the port and then finally kicked off due to oil leaks so we sent it to Carter Cat. They had it for 6 months and did allot of work on it then sent it back to the port only to be rejected again due not been clean enough and oil leaks hence why we are coming over to try and sort it out. Cheers Iggy.
