Interesting brochure that I payed too much for but had to have. It is from 1931, lots of neat pictures and information. I am thinking that this must be about the last of the Caterpillar branded combines before Deere acquired them? I will add a couple of pictures, Mike.

Are there any Caterpillar-branded units still in operable condition?

Yes David Barlogio who you may have met at Santa Margarita had model 34.He would of had Cat 30's and a D 35 at SM at all the shows before he passed. As well as friends of his had another model 34 at his property that was in operation a few years ago. But Dave has been gone at least 5 years or more. They have not a play day to run them since. I don't how they are stored so they could be non operational by now. With a little thinking it would of been late 16 or early 17 that Dave passed.
I would think there should be some in the Pacific Northwest as well. I know that several of later JD produced ones operate as they an antique harvest day with many brands of 1940's to 60's combines in the field.

In reading this thread I remembered some books on old farm equip. that I had not looked at in years. I found a copy of "Directions for John Deere 36, 36A, and 36B combines", and a John Deere "Repair Catalog for NO. 47-H" covering Nos. 33, 35, 36, 36-A AND 36-B combines and attachments (1941), and many others. I see in pictures within these "JOHN DEERE" catalogs that show CAT engines and radiators. I have two of the original CAT engines (power units) with rear mounted radiators out of the JD 36 combines. Could somebody please direct me to somebody or a web site that might be into old JD type equip. or literature.

I will make the request that the board of ACMOC consider putting copes of these books into the library here. If Mr. Green is willing let ACMOC use his books. For the most part this is still the Caterpillar design. For all I know, they could be exactly the same. A design that was able to be competitive in the market for 60 years is not too bad.

We'd love to have scans of these documents to share in the library. I could offer to scan them and then return them back to Floyd afterwards

I would be happy to lend this literature for copy for ACMOC. There is a bunch of stuff here and I do not know exactly what you're looking for. I will simply have to make a list. and let you choose. As an example I looked at the top two books in a pile next to my desk. "DIRECTIONS FOR SETTING UP AND OPERATING JOHN DEERE NO. 6-C TRACTOR PLOWS" (24 pgs.) and, "REPAIR CATALOG NO.103-E for JOHN DEERE-DAIN HAY MACHINERY" (over 500 pages). There is CAT and LETOURNEAU AND A WHOLE LOT MORE. Is this the kind of stuff you're looking for?
