Good afternoon everyone,
I was looking at my service manual and it recommends kerosene or some other type of inflammable solvent. Normally I’ve used diesel in the past for steering clutch’s etc but I wanted to see thoughts. Also my flywheel clutch housing when cleaning and draining (oil type) I have metal parts from when the pony motor died. Should I flush this compartment the book Dosent specify for the oil type.
Also I’ve included a pic of the dangers of running without a complete belly pan. ( note wasn’t me who removed just working on getting it fixed.) I honestly can’t believe it held oil!
Thanks

Not sure what you're asking. Flywheel clutch that runs in oil flush with diesel fuel. A dry clutch I would not want to use diesel. The oil clutch was run in engine oil by the book from 195x when it was new. Today there may be better oils, but I am not sure what it would be. Depending on how cold of weather you operate in I would not use anything heavier than 30 wt.The 30 wt will make the clutch hard to stop in temps under 40 degrees until it warms up even with a working clutch brake.
As to the title of thread I see no problem flushing the transmission with diesel.
