Another high-quality part from the Cat Cave. Most 30s are missing this radiator cap. I believe I have enough for my projects, but this part is usually missing. Skinner

Great Job again, If my memory is correct the Thread Pattern is 1 7/8" NPT or BSP and I have never found a Tap to Suit . Had one Cast to 2" and Machined a 2" stainless Socket and inserted That in Head Plate . works Perfect LJ

When George Logue made these several years ago he made the thread oversize and had a special oversized tap he would lend you to redo your tank threads.

Those look great!
Every "pineapple" radiator cap I ever saw was smooth, so most tank threads beat out too.
I do not ever remember losing one of those caps even though it was just sitting in the hole.
The bottom radiator support, wet on the right side, dry on the left, is another part that is commonly broken.
Wet side is often forgotten when draining and it will invariably end up with enough water to break when it freezes.

We have 8 Cat 30's in the Cat-Cave Collection Different Years / Models Wide and Split Heads etc. And The Best 30 2 Speed early with internal water gallery and Hence we cast new cylinder jugs with no extremal water pipes.
Yeap I have Original Pineapples on 1/2 my Machines . And YES the Threads on the Cap and the Header Tank Get Rattled away.
Yeap I thought about the Same Idea as George Logue. Going Oversize on the Thread and Tapping the Header Tank bigger.
FACT: When the Cat-Cave is Restoring a tractor back to Original Blue Print Engineering Data we Go back to Factory Spec. So in this Case we found damage to threads on the Caps and the Header Tanks.
We Therefore Restored the Thread back to Spec in the Header Tank by boring out and Pressing in a Brass Insert with the Original Thread. The Original Worn Caps we Turned down and fitted a bush to bring back to Correct thread size. The Photo above painted Black for Best 30 is An Original One.
Hence Cat Cave Parts are all back to Blue Print Data. Same as buying a GENUINE PART from CAT over the Counter at your local parts store.
In the past I have sent Castings of this part un machined so they can cut there own thread oversize.
If anyone is interested in un machined rad caps just let me know.
CTS. We have just finished making the Patterns for S-1757. Radiator Support for Cat 30's
We have Radiator Support V-62 in stock for 8c20 and PV 15s For Sale ATM

Well, let me share what has worked for us ! Tap header tank to 2” npt. Get a 2” pipe nipple and cut the threaded end off, turn down the cap and the pipe nipple bushing to a press fit ( you can braze the bushing to the cap). Now you have new threads and an original cap.
