I need some help with the part number for the engine fuel filter. I'am working on a 1937 RD4, S/N 4g4344. When I check the parts catalog (form 4410) it does not show the filters that are installed on my engine. The parts catalog shows 2 ea strainer part #3B6704 and 3 ea element part #3B1834. What is installed on my engine is 4 ea filter that look like roll's of twine they hang from a 1/2" thick fiber plate that mounts between the top cover and housing assembly. There is only 4 filters and no others in the side cover compartment. Was this a mod or, are these the orginal type that was never moded? If anyone can help me with the part number and where I can get some new filters I sure would appreciate the help and info. Also the parts catalog shows the bleed screw mounted in the center of the top cover. On mine the bleed screw is mounted on the front of the top cover facing toward the fan.(I don't know if that makes any differance or not). Thanks again for any info or help.

Thanks Willie for the info, I was afraid that some one might have done a swap of some kind off of another piece of equipment and that I was going to have to figure out what they did and try to run down odd-ball parts. This info makes life a lot easer. Thanks again for the good info. Lou Ray

I went to NAPA yesterday to try and get these fuel filters. NAPA does not recognize part number 7B19 as a good part number. We even tried to cross referance the old part numbers, no help. I will try caterpillar Monday. The last time I dealt with them because of the age of my caterpillar, they where not to helpful till "I" came up with the part number, then they would go to the computer and check to see if they had it. Does anyone have a sugestion of where else I might try to find these filters?

The 7B19 was the old filter change kit with gaskets and four elements.
The parts manuals don't list a number for individual filters. There have also been a couple of evolutions in the numbers and they are now the sock type Wix #33164 or NAPA #3164. You would still need to get the gaskets (2) 5B9733 and 5B9831 from Cat.
