D2 parts and gaskets was created by btsclan
Hello All! Ive been working on my 5U orchard model getting it ready for some weed abatement work later this month. Slowly going through all the systems and fixing leaks etc. Got the pony motor running great, starts with one pull!

The main diesel line from the tank to the engine was nearly completely clogged with nasty black residue, in the process of cleaning it but will probably just replace the line with a new 1/2" copper line. I want to replace the fuel filters but before I go tearing into it are there places online to buy new gaskets or should I plan on making the gaskets myself?

In general are there good places to find parts for these old tractors? I know CAT sells some, havent see much old parts on eBay or other sites.

Thanks!
Steven

Your Caterpillar dealer has the filters and gaskets.
3 filters required: 7B8262 the number may have been updated, and are also available aftermarket.
tower gasket, one required: 7B8037
tower gasket, one required:5B1581
Pay close attention to which gasket goes where... if you get it wrong, you won't be a happy camper.

there is 2 different filters depending on serial number. spiral wound cord or cartridge. when you take the top off the fuel tower you will find out. which style you have.
if memory serves there could be a conversion method to use the later cartridge type but dont quote me on that. maybe another member knows for sure.

i do know there is different types as we had a little fun when we first got our d4 u series going. good thing dad was carting parts to the dealer so while they unloaded the truck he would go see the parts desk for what we wanted.
