Will a Eisemann mag off a early D50, D7 or D75 / D8 pilot motor work on a RD6, I was told yesterday that some of those early 4 and 6 cylinder crawlers used a Eisemann magneto mounted upside down. I know it is a different pilot motor, but is the spark timimg the same, and impulse arrangement?
Thanks

The early Diesel 50 and Diesel 75 2E1 to 2E213 used an Eisemann GL2 magneto. These tractors used the same starting engine as the Diesel 65, Diesel 70 and the D9900. The Diesel 35, Diesel 40, late Diesel 50, late Diesel 75, RD 6,7,8s, and some others used the Eisemann GV2Q that mounded upside down. Sorry I do not have time right now to do all of the serial number breaks.

Thanks naylorbros, I guess my simple question is, can any 2 cylinder base mounting, impulse driven mag, that comes off a 4 or 6 cylinder Cat pony motor, like a D7 or D8, be made to work easily on a RD6, or D35 or D40? I have a buddy Stateside with some D8 mags, and I'm wondering how hard it would be to get one of those to work correctly on a RD6, hanging upside down as they do.
Appreciate your help

If it is a base mount mag that hangs upside down it will work. The later starting engines went to a flange mount mag. My RD6 came with a mag off of a John Deere D that had the impulse changed around to work upside down. If you want a lot of fun take an Eisemann RC2H off of a D2, change the cap, rotor, breaker camshaft, back plate, all impulse parts, thread the mounting holes in the main housing, retime the distributor gears, and reset the edge gap and you are ready to go.
I attached a couple of pictures of a GV2Q that I need to finish up and a GL2.
