Greetings to everyone:
After not having a show due to rapid snow melt and flooding in 2023, the CAFES aka California Antique Farm Equipment Show is back for 2024!!!
Cal-Sierra Tracklayers Inc. Chapter 15, was asked to put on the digging demonstration area as well as display iron.
The "Dig" will be located next to the new area for the tractor puller clubs. I am told there are permanent bleachers for the spectators along with other improvements.
One of our members will set up grade stakes so we can attempt to do "real" grading/leveling work, not just making a hole! Several will bring out scrapers, and Caterpillar D4s and CAT #40 scrapers will be plentiful.
Book motel rooms, as they are going fast; some places are already filled.
Feel free to reach out if any questions or wish to participate. (my alternate # five three zero, 415-zero five 04)
Hope to see you there. JM

Bumping this thread up: So far we ONLY have 9 Caterpillar #40 scraper combinations coming to play, not to mention several #60 scrapers.
Trying to get the DW4 there as well, but time and logistics are an issue.
Our club water truck operator will be there with his fancy Peterbilt to keep the dust settled and crowd entertained as well.
Hope to see everyone there! JM

Bumpity bump bump...If I counted correctly, and everyone follows thru as planned, we will now have TEN, that's 10 Caterpillar 40 scraper combinations in addition to several drawn 60 scrapers and various pieces of equipment in the dig. (BIG THANKS for those making the effort to participate).
Keep 'em coming folks!
As Steeltracs mentioned in another thread, the weather will be fabulous!
Hope to see many of you from near and far enjoying the entire show. I was told the bull riding competition might be cancelled, due to lack of participants; I submitted an entry for Deas, but he might not get his travel visa in time. (So sorry to hear that sir). Barrel racers will be plenty though, and very easy on the eyes!
Come on out and have a great time! JM

Hi, juiceman.
I submitted an application for a visa to attend the show but I heard a rumor that the bulls submitted an objection which caused it to be refused.

C'est la vie.

Try to have enuff fun for both of us anyway and please give my regards to all.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Mostly U series from what I know guys (sorry), it's the period correct folks ya know...I wanted to bring an E and D, but will test the TD9B CA with one. Time was limited, so I loaded up a baby TD6 62 series just to see if she can handle the load; probably spin out and make noise, but fun still.
Hope to see many there. We will have 2 drone operators to video most of the activities in the dirt.
Brett A. will set up stakes and have some old school land leveling with his new to him 60 scraper. He has probably leveled half of Solano County with the help of his father way back in the day. My other IH TD9B with the C frame would be a perfect set up for pushing, but unavailable, as it is being readied for its new home in Idaho.
Steeltracs will be the lead man, so please say hello to him and give him some thanks, as he has spent considerable time organizing the dig for our club.
Thanks everyone. JM
