R5 with some new jewelry

Not long ago I noticed that our r5 had a generator for lights on it. You would think after owning it for almost 15 years, we would have picked up on things like that. It had a beehive in it for the past 4 years and it just got taken care of last year so recently I did some poking around and that’s when I noticed the generator. I took a couple pics with her new jewelry.

Neighbor had one and after 30 years of owning, it somebody pointed it out that it had a place for electric starter. Which 40+ years ago was not real hard to find.

R5s are kind of odd ducks. Not near as nice to play with as d2s when it comes to parts availability. 35s and 40s interchange but gas versions of those are hard to find. If only I could go back in time and order special parts for cats…
