Hi, I have a lot of free play on the main clutch leaver on my cat R2 6J617SP when i push the leaver forward to disengage it hits the tank but when you pull it back it has a nice snap to it. Just wondering what the adjustment should be?
thanks

Blue, these pictures might help a little. They are from my 6J with the clutch forward as far as it will go and with the clutch pulled to the rear in the engaged position. Disengaged lever is about 4 inches from fuel tank. Engaged lever is about 13 inches from the tank.

Hi, Blue.
I'm no 'ex-spurt' on R2s but, if it is supposed to have a clutch brake and that is not working/outa adjustment/missing, that could explain your extra lever travel.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

There is a bushing on the top of the housing where the vertical clutch shaft rides, when that gets worn you will get excessive play.

If you tighten up all the slop, you'll find the movement much reduced, and the clutch feeling much snappier and easy to adjust. I did that on my D2 and it feels like what I imagine a brand new tractor felt like
