I had a Thirty come in that had the cylinders bored out to gas Thirty Five pistons, standard bore. High-altitude ones at that. It should be a fun one when it is back together.

All the stories of Cat 30's given a bit more go makes the tail my wife's uncle told of his 30 more credible. I wish I could of spent more time with him. He was a crane operator on the big stuff such as the smokestacks on the Morro Bay electric generation plant. He claimed to have sawed the top off of pistons he had around and using wood screws to attach them to the Cat piston to increase compression. I saw things like the Chrysler New Yorker he was driving that had a 3 speed brownie from a truck added into his car. Which he used to haul the Cat 30 down to Fontana on a home built trailer.
