Thank you for the pictures. Unfortunately I’m looking for something a little more complete and in semi close driving distance from so cal. But I’m happy it got saved from scrap. There’s still a life left in it. Was that a winch mount on the back?

I don't really have much history on the machine and couldn't tell you what was going on with the mechanism on the back end.

This may interest you if you desire more photos too give you an idea on a wide Thirty, here is a 1928 Wide Gauge Tailseat Thirty with Swamp pads that I have personal connections to. It worked in the Fields of Bakersfield pulling water wagons for livestock, after it's working life it remained in Bakersfield with a very close but now deceased friend of my father and I. The crawler now lives in Temecula. I can back up with what the gentleman on this thread before have said regarding a planetary gearbox reduction, and these are indeed scarce machines, might be better to find a standard gauge. If you'd like anymore photos let me know

Bests, Holts and large gas CATs.

Best Regards

Hi, MH P.H.D.
I have a sneaking suspicion that I might know where that wide Thirty currently lives. (LOUD noise of zipper being quickly pulled shut.)

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

That is a great looking machine and cool history. It’s a shame someone cut up the original seat, but things are bound to happen in almost 100 years. I’m not to concerned with finding a wide thirty as of yet. I have my eyes on another cat project before I even think about starting this pipe dream.

Fuel Tank, Seat do not look like they belong on that machine.
The seat pan for sure is unlike any I have ever seen and the fuel tank is much larger in diameter.

Comment about a planetary gear box has me confussed. Where and how was a planetary gear box used on this machine?
