I went and looked at the one out back, only thing like a stud I can find is the place you hang the hydraulic cylinder off of if you remove the blade. So are you talking about the top outside area of the hardnose?

Wow! Dave I'm amazed by your intuition. After your post I was able to find the "stud" was a 5J2424 plate assembly used to hold the hydraulic cylinders as you described and pictured.
I thought the poor description and lack of a picture and the ,,,,,punctuation meant the question was a gag. 
I should've asked for more info instead of giving a smart aleck answer.

Have a similar arrangement on the D2 for the same purpose but on the blade mount brackets
