D2 5U Clutch was created by d4angelo
I just repacked the clutch in my D2 serial #6453 1950 year model. My question is why are the teeth sheared off on my clutch disc? The clutch plate looks almost new with nice grooves still on both surface sides. Why did this happen?

Mine did the same thing. Someone said it had to do with leaving the clutch released with engine running. With the clutch disengaged the disk floats around in the flywheel. Just a theory that I heard.

we were told it was best to keep the clutch engaged to prevent warping so there might be a bit of truth to that. and think about it the normal position for most clutches is engaged when you work the mechanism it releases the clutch.
