See if this one posts. Naturally what I had keyed is now lost.

My original comment was the exhaust odor from our D17 Allis was noticeably different that the exhaust smell from the IHC Super WD9 and even the D4. Was there something unique about the AC engine that probably morphed from Buda in the D17????
This would have been late '50's.

Sorry, I put this up on the wrong site really. It is a BUDA LANOV engine. One of the nice people pointed me towards allischalmers website/forums. Have just been listening to people discuss this engine that belonged to my grandfather. Not even sure what price to list it on other site. Talking to several sources

That's Lanova, and that's what the head design is called on some of the Allis diesels, like my D262 in my M65 grader and why it has the different exhaust smell.
From Wikipedia: "In 1953, Allis-Chalmers acquired the
Buda Engine Company
of
Harvey, Illinois
. Allis wanted Buda for its line of
diesel engines
,
[28]
[29]
because its previous supplier,
Detroit Diesel
, was a division of
General Motors
, whose recent acquisition of the
Euclid
heavy equipment company now made it a competitor of Allis-Chalmers for construction equipment business.
[29]
The Buda-Lanova models were re-christened the "Allis-Chalmers Diesel" engine line."

I put it up for sale on the Allis Chalmers site. Asking around $1,250 to $1,500 for it. What do you think it is worth?

Does it run or at least turn over? If not, it's only worth scrap price or less as it needs to be moved.

Buda Lanova engine. It needs hoses replaced and rust removed, but dad says it should start with very little effort. I do not know if the pictures are on the forums or not, but I can send them.

Buda Diesel,
Not sure if I am correct , might be a starting place,
Northwest 80 have Buda Diesel for power plant?
Some of the Schramm Air Compressors may have also had Buda.
By now, these machines are all antiques!
