Need to move said tractor from Uncles farm in south Central MN to eastern SD. Struggling getting started. Machine was started annually till about 5 yrs ago. Wasn’t getting spark so just ordered magneto. It had H4 magneto. Going off a 1-3-4-2 firing order. So on spark: wasn’t getting spark at plug with new mag n cap. Using old cap do but still seems suspect. Plug wire ends seem worn/loose/not best contact. Will build new. Timing I’m sure is off after mag change. It’s a bit of drive to machine and gathering uncle to get access. More or less looking for someone who has rig with winch to get loaded and delivered to my farm (2 1/2 hr) away and or tips to get started I overlooked. This is only experience with type machine and I’m not great mechanic. Thanks for time.

Easiest way to time the mag to the engine is put number one cyl on tdc compression stroke, fire the mag on number one post using the impulse but do it carefully.so as not to go past where it fires. Now join the two without turning either the mag or the engine, do it all through the coupler on the water pump shaft. Recheck your work by turning the engine through slowly to be sure you got it right so it won't kick.
