Cat 22 undercarriage/tracks

A museum has asked my opinion of their undercarriage and tracks on a 22. They rebuilt the motor 10 years ago and it runs like a champ.

Initial inspection shows pins and bushings very worn. The pins are almost football shaped, the drive sprockets actually looks very good. Based on where they had it parked, I couldn't see the rollers/rails. However, I did notice all the backs of the pads has a line worn into them. Not sure it the wear was done on this machine or maybe these tracks were better than the tracks they had and all the wear was from the previous machine. Lifting on the edge of the pads allowed for quite a bit of angular deflection.

Given that, many ball park ideas on price to repin and bush the tracks? Any recommended sources for parts? Is it a job doable at a fairly well equipped shop? Do the pads have to come off to do the work? What else do I not know that I should?

Pictures would help. The line could be from worn out rollers and rails. My first thought is that it might be cheaper to locate a parts machine with a better undercarriage. Where is this 22 located?

As I understand it you could use D2 track on a 22. But no new D2 tracks are available unless you find some hid in the back of a warehouse. There are threads on here of converting D2 undercarriage to D3. No idea of current prices on D3 track, but could see it being many times more costly than a whole running Cat22. So unless the museum has plans do major reenactments of old time work done with a Cat 22, don't worry about it. It should do many miles in parades and such.

Here's pics.

On a side note, the original tracks were replaced with these, maybe 15 years ago. I don't remember these being in this condition when they got put on, so I'm assuming more has worn. Grabbing the pins feels like grabbing a football.

Keep in mind that a track shop can just turn the pins and bushings

Maybe I’m missing something but what n a museum it will never be, run pushing dirt. Unless it’s cosmetic why stress over that?
