that was part of the design of the original land rover. you could run several attachments from them.

Love it, that's shade tree engineering at it's best...and most of it works...and can be further modified/improved...who knows where it goes..

- at the race track....this is called...."run what you brung" ....nice!

we have a ronaldson & tippet stationary engine at home that had a cream can for a hopper as it was either tank cooled originally or the factory cast iron one broke.

it was a common adaptation of the fergueson TE20 and ford 9n tractors to have the baby ford v8 as the original 4cyl engines were a bit anaemic in the power dept.
a mate of mine mounted a isuzu 4jb1t engine in a old fergy chassis. it now has double the hp and nearly triple the torque.

The last farmer I worked for just after I left school had a Ford 80-donkey 6banger slotted into a Chamberlain 40K tractor and fitted it with dual rear wheels at the same time. That was quite the beast for its time.

I have done several truck re-powers, a 6V-71 Jimmy into an ACCO in place of a 6V-53 and a Cummins 903 V8 into a 1923 cab0over Benz amongst them. The Benz was good for 100 MILES PER HOUR PLUS after the re-power. I also slotted a 308 Holden V8 into an RLHC Bedford 4WD truck. That made it get up and boogie. I also put a TK Bedford cab on it and 'tilted' it while I was at it.

I also put an HB Holden Torana motor into an LJ50 Suzuki and then followed that one with a Datsun 1200 motor into another LJ50.

All good, clean(?) fun.

one of the weirdest i saw was a home made "tractor" called old rusty. she was made from the arse end of a centurion tank and some rsj beams had a twin steer front end, a six cyl ruston developing around 1500 hp at 600 revs and 6 44 gal drums for a fuel tank. it had 6 30inch tractor wheels on the back.

at the same event there was a articulated chamberlain made from 2 super 90's with gm power that still got regular use in farming. it also had duals.

I just realized that I 'miscued' on one of those links. Where it showed the HoneyBee tractor twice, the second one was suppsed to be the Zell 214 foot seeder set-up bing pulled by a Baldwin DP600 tractor. I think I have corrected it now.

Part of the interest in that set-up is the way the GPS works. It either tells the driver where to steer the tractor so that the seeder misses the clump of trees - or - it doesn't trust the driver to do it and does the job itself.
