Where do you go for parts when you need them? Who have you found reliable and generally with stock you need?

I have a 1948 D4 7U and a D2 5U. Dealer has most parts. The "goldmine" was Florin Tractor, but we all know they are out of business. Chad Enyeart has a lot of good used parts also. Angelo

Hi, Kurt.
I used to go to Quinn Cat in Santa Maria, CA., for all my Cat parts but the oldest machine on the ranch was the 966C. A couple of times, I had to go to Quinn's Fresno store to get the parts I wanted and' last I heard, they had a used parts section over there.
There is also a guy at a car parts store in Atascadero, CA., who has said that he would be happy to try to locate any 'hard-ter-findium' or 'unobtainium' parts. He loves a challenge and has contacts all over the U.S. after around 30 years in various sectors of the parts industry.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

American Crane & Tractor Parts in Kansas City have always been good to me. they do some aftermarket stuff as well as NOS stuff. truthfully just put your part number in to machinery traders parts look up and it will tell you everyone in the county that has that part.

I'm new to finding parts for old machines but so far have had luck on Craigslist, ebay, machinery trader and tracksnteeth.com and carbkitsource.com.

a google of the part number can somtimes get you to the national stock number aka NSN which can be useful for finding parts particularly things like gears, seals and bearings as many are stock items sourced from out side manufacturers such SKF etc and were used on other brands of machinery. it can importantly get you the cross match to part numbers for other suppliers which may be easier to find. you can also get specs such as dia, width and bore size

Regal Corporation had a lot of good quality reproduction parts, as well as some old new stock parts. But I have slowed, so I don't wear many parts out, so have not called them in years. They may have closed up.
