D311 accessory drive.

Does anyone know if there's an HP rating on the accessory drive on the front of the D311? could one take off a generator and replace it with a hydraulic pump?   would like to have live hydraulics and don't want a pump hanging off the front.  thinking 5-8 GPM range probably would be a gear pump as they are cheap and simple.

I don't know the HP rating, but I have a U series D2 here with hydraulics adapted to it in place of the generator. Works just fine. I have/had a J series as well set up similar. JM

JM would you be able to show a picture of the set up? sounds interesting and what do you power with it? my 3J has rear PTO with sprocket and chain to drive pump, never seen engine drive train doing the work.
Cheers Jamie

I can take a photo of it when I can remember which building I parked it in! I will gladly go look for it today, and get out of the heat.
The 5U came to me with it already installed; not the prettiest set up, but it works well. The tractor has been used to pull hydraulic controlled disks and orchard levelers.
The previous owner said it was "field engineered" by some old tractor hand. I will reply later today. JM

Nice arrangement for the pump and looks very good, at least live power at hand, nice to see all the machines in under cover, a life time of history and stories there

Please put a relief valve in the system. I kow of a D318(D8U) that was set up very neatly untill they deadheaded the pump . That wrecked some timing gears real quick.
cheers WF
