Hi, Folks.
Does anybody see anything wrong in this instructive video?
A kew-ree-yuss mind would like to know.

uhm - he is doing it right! pull the dipstick and point the end up - that way it always reads FULL!
Almost as good as the old days when some gas station attendants would not put the stick all the way into the tube - "you are a quart low" sell you oil at high price!
Could be lots of little things but that is quite obvious!

Hi, CTS.
That IS one thing that I think is wrong about the video but it is not the MAIN one. Wanna try again?

Deas -
I am not familiar with these "NEW" machines - feel much more comfortable with the "vintage" machines.
I am not fond of the mounting - dismounting procedures I see way too often and not one to stand on dozer arm when I have a full width track that is clean and dry.
Always Three Point in contact with a machine - saves many injuries.
Nothing like jumping from a machine to get one hurt.
WHAT ARE YOU SEEING?
Maybe something with those RED handles - Painted RED as a NO GRAB?
Stay safe - think before you act!

Using his gloves to wipe the dip stick, filthy in many ways.

He stepped off to the side of the track to get a clearer picture of the procedure and he should have done it while standing on the track. From his vantage point it is difficult to see the dip stick hole and can jab the dipstick into a lot of dirt. Like someone else said earlier, slick oil on gloves when climbing onto the rig cannot be a good idea.

Hi, Folks.
All valid points but not the MAIN one that I am seeing. Unless the D9R is VASTLY different from from the D9N and the D9T, that dipstick that he pulled is the one for the transmission - - - - - - and has NOTHING to do with the track frame pivot shaft - or the recoil cylinders which are lubed by the same oil - which is held in the plastic tank between the transmission dipstick and the battery disconnect switch in that same compartment.

For sure the one thing That stood out like a sore thumb was wiping it off of these gloves but he did have his high viz. hardhat and safety glasses on most of these construction jobs anymore that’s all they care about.

and he wiped i wrong your supposed to wipe it on your pants or grab the bottom hem of your shirt and use that.. my massage therapist trained her husband to wipe his hands and such on the front of his pants. no more grease marks on the furniture or the seat of the car.
