As one member stated, computers should have an interlock or breathalyzer mechanism installed for some people( me?).
I saw this ugly ass little D4 7U, and decided it would make an excellent organ donor of sorts here for some of my small fleet of crawlers.
Hmmmm, let’s see: Front Be-Ge pump, guard, tow hook, belly pan, electric pony, lifetime rollers, front knockers…goodies i could put on others!
I don’t believe in killing a tractor, but this one wasn’t a runner when I got it, as someone beat me to the magneto. Knock it in the head as Ray54 would probably say…
TractorDon convinced me to try to get it running instead of making it an organ donor; I am glad I listened to him!
With the help of one of my “farm boy” truck drivers, we dragged it around with my Duramax(yes D4Angelo, not a FORD) and it ran on starting fluid; I assumed the rack was stuck; while showing my guy how smart I am and teaching him the finer points of rusty iron, he told me the linkage was not hooked up! Oops!!! Hahahah
Well DUUUUHHHH, it’s no wonder it wouldn’t run!
Hooked it back up and 5’ with the RC60 is all it took.
D47U 25,xxx gets to live, fully intact…
I guess it pays to listen to friends occasionally! JM
***Freed the pony and installed a used mag and it’s a keeper***

Hi, juiceman.

Methinks yer missing a letter in the above statement, an 'f' before "ugly". But I'm glad that you didn't 'dissect' it for donor parts to other machines.
Good stuff.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Northern Calif is lucky To have Juiceman's Small Cat Rescue to go save the unloved, abused and generally overlooked small cats from horrible futures. We should all be grateful that there is someone out there to provide this service to help preserve and help find loving forever homes for these neglected cats.
I personally find the fenders and tailseat an interesting look that many people will probably never be exposed to. I look forward to seeing it in person and restored to a useful
life .
I now need to find a similar person that has the best interest in mind for a larger D7E to go to its next home as I have no need for something that big. I spent the last week up at our property in the sierras watching a big JD wheeled skidder pulling trees. But the highlight for me was watching a Cat 527 crawler skidder working in the steep stuff that the JD couldn't do.
Definitely the little tractor that can !

It is buttoned up as far as it will get here. It is not a beauty by means, but runs good. One of my ex farmer neighbors worked for UC Davis on the farm side of things, I will ask him if he was familiar with the 7U. It is possible they got rid of it years before his employment. I suspect the grouser height was intentional, guessing the former owner used it to spray walnut orchards and did not want the orchard floor disturbed too much with tall grousers; these were wider than 18' at one time, someone took the gas ax to them and whacked them.
It goes in the dungeon for now. One day I will take it out and hook a disk to it, it needs the pads shined up! JM
