It’s fair time in Dixon, CA

It’s fair time in California! Members Brett and Carol Atkinson hail from Dixon, CA; as active (new) members of ACMOC they love sharing some of their growing collection of old working iron. Their enthusiasm got the attention of the Dixon May Fair board, so they were invited to set up a display. Chapter 15 and Chapter 5 will pitch in and show off a few items as well.
The fair hasn’t opened to the public yet, and I was very amazed at the interest by locals, as this is a tight knit agricultural community. Many folks followed the trucks dropping off iron, and got to get a sneak peek and reminisce about old iron. Good times!
May 12-14 is the opening date I believe, so come on out  and say hello and kick some tracks!
More photos to follow. JM

Wow, how did you manage to score James Bond to drive the Cletrac?

James Bond? hmmm, that is one very popular Chapter 15 Member! His disquise does need some work and many will wonder - where is he hiding the "Bond Girls"?

Wish I could make it. Some sad news to report - my trusted companion has finally said enough is enough - Canon EOS 7D is no longer supported. Manufacture support had me run some simple diagnostic tests, it appears the Power Supply Board failed. Nothing to be done - in market for new camera. That means many are safe for the time being, rejoice fellas!

Nothing runs or operates like the OLD ONES - before computer chips and circut boards! Enjoy those sometimes cantankerous starting engines and stuck clutches!

Please Share lots of Pictures - they will outlast us all and only as good as those that are able to view them!

Well folks, I will actually have a very nice family friend model some clothing items while adorning my crawlers at the fair. Bobtail Apparel is having a grand opening Saturday of the fair and I volunteered Madison and her staff of lovely young ladies to show off some stuff. This is a family channel, so you dirty minded old dudes can put your eyeballs back in your heads and minds out of the gutter...
This fair display is not limited to Chapters 5, 15 and the California Ag Museum. However, the ideal cutoff day for delivery of iron is tomorrow morning, as we are set up by the livestock area and there will be a lot of vehicles and exhibitors rolling in. Come on out and eat some fair food, watch the bad**s tractor pull on Saturday night and their downtown parade. Hip waders optional, as there may be some bullshi**ing going on, hopefully not too deep!
I often wonder why some of us do what we do for entertainment, as it is a bit of work and gets expensive for some; after unloading some iron and taking "5", it was refreshing to have folks come from the area out of nowhere and marvel at the old toys that we like so much. At that point we felt that our efforts had already reaped dividends. No amount of sweat, headache or gallons of diesel fuel could give us so much satisfaction! So we can say that is a teaser for what to expect when the real crowds show up this weekend.
If anyone cares, I will post some more pictures. CTS you most likely wore out your camera. How about buying one of those new fangled smart phones with the multiple lenses?
I am learning how to manage time here; easiest for myself to take pictures before and after a showing. JM

JM -- you really think I wore it out - hmmm - Canon supports equipment for ten years - i made 14 years! I have no idea of the total shutter count but would be a fair guess to exceed 100,000!
Problem with putting the equipment in the closet - just like our beloved farm equipment, the attachments, lenses, etc are worth more than the body!
Yes, if I had not already had the huge investment and been through this when Film became near obsolete, I would really consider a good Phone - some of them have some great capabilities!
