I'm rebuilding a cat d4400. The parts for that engine seem to be really hard to find. There seems to have been pistons and sleeves for sale 15 years ago, but they have seem to went extinct now, and same with the main bearings and crank bearings.
I mostly need the bearings. I believe I can machine the block to accept different sleeves and the rods to accept different wrist pins.
Part numbers and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All,
Sleeves are/were available from cat, but expensive, i have seen pistons with ring from India on Flea bay.
As for bearings you could have them rebabited if they are brass backed and then have it line bored to suit the crank, this could also be done to the conrods you may have to have new shims made.
Regards
Daryl

A lot of parts have gone extinct over the last few years. It does not make me happy when I have bought parts before and I go back to get more of them and they are all gone.
