Finally got my D8 home from the neighbors, took me less than 2 hours to road it home about 8 miles. This dozer has left it's mark in a huge way in our region building almost every farm pond, local mountain roads, creek maintenance over the last 60 + years.  It's a modified 2U, includes a 7th track roller, turbocharger, hood and dash from a 13A. It was built to use, starts and runs great, had to keep it here at home, local.

Really cool. Don't think I've ever seen a cable blade tractor with a glass enclosed cab.

There ya go, taunting some of us! Nice one. Who built that cab? Upshaw? That's a NorthWest machine for sure. I bet it "barks" too! Tell us more sir! Thanks, JM.

Hi, deereskinner.
That 7-roller track frame would be a plus, would help to stop it "tip-toeing through the tulips' like those early D8s were prone to do with a blade on the front. Unusual to see them of that vintage with a cab too.

Thanks for sharing.

This old cat is truly a gem, for sitting for several years brakes and steering clutches all seem to still be in adjustment to work properly.  I was quite surprised really how quiet it is. Standing by the pipe you hear the turbo light whistle, didnt smoke a bit once it warmed up.  When I was "reving it up to impress the kids" it doesnt belch very much smoke.  The ol boy that set this up kept the RPMS correct and has the fuel at a proper setting, I have all the history including some good photos of the original owner building ponds.  I should put together an article with photos and see if they would put it in the magazine.

Also to ad, serial numbers don't match, engine is a 1946 and the back one reads to be a 1952. Cant prove it but I think the hardnose with the built in winch could be off of a 13A or a 14A. Its a later model hood since the firewall is not a 2U original. Makes me laugh at the body and fender work of the day for compensating for the turbo and larger air cleaner, Tools of the trade looks to be the work of a sledge hammer and torch, maybe a hatchet. LOL. But it is certain a D13000 engine
