I guess I need to update my disc progress. A lot of the holes that the bolts went through the frame are totally worn out. I drilled the holes to 1 inch on the hitch. Machined several new bushing for the cross links between the frames. Have the trip for the push back bar all rebuilt and have the right turn trip mechanism working as it should. Re-bushed the cross arm for the front. Everything was rusted solid.

Ray 54 came through with some scrapers for the disc. I have been busy with projects of the summer time nature so that’s been top priority. We need some 20 inch blades for this, where is a good place to buy these?

We have new disc blades for it now, that was pricey! Since those were so expensive, the project has a new bump up in the quality factor. We decided that It could use some green paint on the frame. I was waiting on some nice warmer weather to spray it outside. other than that she is a few bolts from field ready. I need to make the turn bar for the D2. The ones that were posted here look pretty complicated to fabricate. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

The detail you are going to on the disc. I don't know if you want to stop short of perfection. My uncle used cutting edge off a dozer and welded a turn bar together for his RD6. I believe the Cat ones where all bent bar stock. Maybe if we keep this thread alive, someone will pull one out of their stash of goodies and be will to sell it.

I could always dream of finding a factory turn bar, but reality will dictate that I will probably fabricate one myself. If you are not looking for factory correctness, it is well within my capability to make one. I need sharpen my blacksmithing skills anyway!

Hi from New Zealand
Thanks for posting the Killefer catalogue prints. Are you able to date the Catalogue to clarify the available models and prices listed?
As no reference in the first lot of pages to J-D I assume the Catalogue to be pre-1937.
My query relates to the Killefer 5foot Revolving Scraper. I recently purchased one I believe to be a model 27R. Only a Killefer Manuf Corp brass plate and almost intact aluminiun Killefer plaque on on side. Any advice on a color scheme for this and any way to narrow down the manufacture date?
Thanks

After 1937 the color would be John Deere Green, pre 1937 you have to disassemble it and maybe remove the ID tag if it is good shape and you can find the original color.

Interesting Bones2, did you pick that up from a farmer or contractor? Do you know the history on the piece? Would you mind posting some pictures? I'm originally from Masterton and host my cousin's Twenty-Two and all the implements I've seen have been from the Commonwealth. I've only seen the prime movers such as the tractors, motor scrapers, graders, etc. from the U.S. there.
Cheers,

Sorry for the delay in responding - Ive been travelling through the South Island visiting grandkids.
I purchased it from a farmer/collector at a clearing sale last month.
Diassembled it and got it back from the sandblaster a week ago.
I really dont have any good photos of it pre-disassembly - fully seized and rusted up - wear plates shot etc but will see what I can attach - actually cant see how to attach a photo
