Broke bolt

Broke bolt was created by gwoods
D4 7u 1949, I was going to tighten fan belt on this crawler. One of the bolts in the tightening ring broke off. My question, has anyone taken the water pump off without removing the fan belt. Could there be another way to solve this problem? The bolt is broken at a shallow depth and prevents backing ring off. Is best choice to remove radiator and leave water pump alone? Help again if you have time. Thanks

If there is room, I would take the fan off, then undo the water pump and let it drop down enough to get the belt off then completely remove the water pump. Either way you are going to have to remove the hub from the water pump shaft to drill the broken bolt out. Taking the hub off in-situ by removing the radiator would also be an option but you would be stretching the belt to get the hub off.

Thank you, so helpful. Sounds like doable plan. I will get back on this after attempting.

Had to remove radiator to get water pump off so broke bolts can be gotten out.
