Sharing with approval from a local CAT person…
Johnny B. from the “west side”, College City/Arbuckle,CA area where he and his grandfather Lee T. farm many acres of almonds.
Some time ago he grafted a cab from a CAT grader and mounted it onto his D4D for orchard spraying. The bad*ss Hardie sprayer has tracks mounted from a former CAT 30 I think? The flowers bloomed out full, and with wet weather he needed to get in and spray fungicides. Crop protection for nuts that are susceptible to disease from the wet weather. Ground rigs always seemed to do a much better job than an expensive helicopter or crop dusting plane. The tracks keep the unit from sinking into the rows and causing deep ruts, which take time and money to correct, as many like a perfect orchard floor. He has quite the set up there, as when I was a young man, I had a jalopy of a D4 orchard rig and it was SLOW going. Seen many farmers with several stuck crawlers. Not fun. He states that they have a second rig ready for action as we read. JM

Hi, Juiceman.
That looks like one handy set-up, especially for poor ground conditions.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

That's a great rig! Just perfect for the weather you've been having out there.
