Turning the diesel over with the throttle open. Yea some just dont get it or "I've done it this for way for the past forty years" Well here is a story what fuel washing and wrong timing can do to an engine.

They did not mention anything about checking piston oil cooler nozzle failure if this engine is so equipped, but I agree they are probably correct as to why the engine failed.
Well if I listened better I would hav caught the oil cooling statement !

Hi, Steeltracs.
They did mention that the engine was not equipped with piston cooling. They also mentioned that they did not think that was a contributing factor.

It will always amaze me why people will warm there car up in the morning but will start there Stating Engine and let it run Wild! You always start them and run them at an idle until warmed and then and only then do you start your big engine! I was taught by the old timers all of whom started with Mules! To run with the compression released until you good oil pressure and if cold to run it that way until you got enough heat from the starting engine before you gave it compression and give it fuel only when you were ready to start! Everybody will complain about there starting engines not lasting or running right ,I mean what do they expect after the way they treat them. When I was a kid I have got my butt chewed over this one! 17afarmer
