Serial Number was created by Tucker8409
Hello all, I purchased a D8 dozer a couple months ago and am trying to find filters for the machine but do not know the year.
Serial # is 1H7900SP, any help dating the machine would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Thank you, I had found it at one point but can no longer remember where i found the information. One other question if possible.
Do they consider it a 2U?

The first two characters in the serial number you have is what folks generally refer to, so yours is a 1H. A 2U tractor would have a serial number like 2U12345 for example

"SP" stands for Special Parts like different pinion/ring gear ratios and different final drive gear ratios.

find yourself a parts book that covers that serial number range. then you can try and get a cross match to baldwin or wix etc. you can also try the local cat dealer they might still have a model listing in the catalog. but a part number makes it easier.
